Safety
At Bugaboo I believe safety is crucial to the well being of the children I care for, their parents, and for myself and my family. The following safety measures are in place for the protection and care for all.
Bugaboo Day Home is a smoke free environment, including both indoor and outdoor property.
I am a city licensed, privately operated day home. The City of Calgary verifies my criminal reference check yearly in January. I am a Level 1- Early Childhood Educator. A copy of my city license and my ECE documents are provided to all families during the interview process.
I have a valid Criminal Reference Check provided by the Calgary Police Service. I also have a clean Child Welfare Check provided by Alberta Child Services. My husband Rob, also holds copies of these reference checks well. A copy of these Criminal Checks are provided to all families during the interview process.
I am qualified in Infant and Child First Aid and Infant and Child CPR. My certification is updated prior to its expiry date. A copy of my certification is provided to all parents.
In addition to my home ownership insurance I have additional day home insurance covered on my home and outdoor property.
For your peace of mind, I provide excellent references at the time of interviewing. All my references are parents of young children whom I either currently care for or have cared for in the past. I strongly encourage you to contact my references as part of your screening process. It is very reassuring to talk to other parents who have been in your shoes, searching for that wonderful provider and who can vouch for the exceptional care and program I provide.
Outdoor play is a daily activity at Bugaboo Day Home (weather permitting). Your child will need to come to the day home each day equipped with outdoor wear suitable for the current season.
Fire Safety is incorporated into our program and emergency processes are in place. In the rare emergency event that required us to leave the day home property there are three exits located in the day home area, which have been inspected by the Calgary Fire Department and City Inspections. Smoke detectors and Carbon Monoxide detectors are in good working order, regularly tested and maintained, and on each level of the house. Lower level windows have been approved by the City of Calgary for emergency evacuation.
In the event of a medical emergency you will be contacted first, unless doing so would put the life or well-being of your child at risk. If there is a medical emergency that requires attention beyond my first aid knowledge and qualifications 9-1-1 will be contacted.
In the rare event that I have an opening to accept a new child into care, interviews with parents are not scheduled during day home hours. Should there be a time when maintenance is required on my home every effort will be made to try and schedule the necessary repairs outside of day home hours. Every effort will be made to ensure that the presence of unknown persons during day home hours is at a minimum.
Doors, windows, and out door fence gates are kept locked at all times.
Safety equipment such as additional carpet underlaying, window well guards, and infant safety gates are in place to prevent falls and injuries. When you are visiting the day home please be aware of safety gear and ensure you are properly locking devices behind you.
