Interviews
The interview process typically consists of three parts: our initial contact done via telephone or email, the in-person interview and tour, and handing in your deposit and paper work.
The interview process is a mutual opportunity for you as parents and myself as the provider to get to know each other and become comfortable with one another.
During our initial phone and email session(s) we will discuss some preliminary items such as: start dates, age of child, pick up and drop off times, and anything else you or I feel necessary to cover. If we both agree that proceeding to an in-person interview would be beneficial we will schedule a time outside of day home hours (typically on a week night) to meet in person.
An in person interview will only take place if the ENTIRE family can attend. I like to meet all parties including mom, dad, and your precious little one. The interview is your opportunity to ask me any questions that you have. I will also have questions for you! In order to attend my day home you will be asked to review and sign my Parent's Handbook. This handbook will be given to you at the interview and I will walk you through some of the key items and policies I have in place. During the in-person interview you will be given a tour of Bugaboo Day Home and you will be given an opportunity to meet my husband and our three children. At the end of the interview I will give you a time frame in which I will need to know your decision regarding your child's admittance to Bugaboo Day Home. This is not to rush your decision- I understand choosing the right day home, is a task that is not taken lightly. Normally Bugaboo Day Home is full to Alberta Government's limit and in the rare event a space is available multiple families are usually interested. Once I know of your desire to send your child to Bugaboo Day Home I will assess whether I believe your child will be able to thrive to their full potential and adjust well to the routines of the day home. Once I have completed my interviews with all interested families you will be notified of your acceptance into Bugaboo Day Home and a time to drop off your paper work and deposit will be made. You will also be given an opportunity to visit the day home for a brief period together with your child. I usually schedule this for the same time that you drop off your deposit and paper work. At this time, you will have an opportunity to meet the other children currently in care and see a small portion of the day home "in action".
